Lost a prescription!
Sorry if this is in the wrong place, I couldn't decide on where might be the best place to write this (is so, please move it to the correct location). Im in a pretty big mess here, so any help will be very much appreciated. Hopefully there is some sort of medical professional on this forum.
Anywho, before I left, my doctor was able to send me with enough meds to last me the entire trip. However, one of the prescriptions, which it is a narcotic pain reliever (oxycodone), is one of the prescriptions I often carry around in case of a sudden episode or other reason. I traveled this past weekend, and have somehow lost them.
My question is, what are the needed steps to take in order to get my prescription refilled? i'm leaving in 16 days, so going to a doctor here would be expensive and unnecessary considering I don't have insurance here, plus the cost of the medication. I've called my doctor, and he told me he can fax any necessary documents and do whatever he can to help, but as far as calling international and anything that would cost him money is completely out of the question. I DO already have a letter from him (my doctor) stating the medications in which i am prescribed, in case customs or other officials required them upon arrival/departure.
I am really willing to do whatever it takes, because if not - i will have to leave Brazil sometime this week. Thank you so much for any help you guys can give!
