How often do you visit Belo Horizonte? Is it one of your favorite cities? Why or why not?

I haven't visited it yet, but I plan to visit soon.

I have been there almost every week a few days for the last year and it is a city which is difficult to understand as it is very big and although there are many nice places to visit it's not that easy to find them unless you have a local leading you the way.

Belo Horizonte has plenty of significant cultural landmarks, many of them situated in the Pampulha district, where there are very wonderful examples of Brazilian contemporary architecture.


1. The Mineirão Stadium - one of the largest soccer stadiums in the world
2. The São Francisco de Assis Church - widely known as Igreja da Pampulha
3. The Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais campus - whose buildings themselves are important contributions to the city's architecture
4. Other remarkable Pampulha buildings include the Mesbla and Niemeyer buildings, in addition to the headquarters of corporations such as Usiminas, Seculus, and Telemig Celular.

In downtown Belo Horizonte, are located the neo-Gothic Boa Viagem Cathedral, the church of São José, the Praça da Estação (Station Square), which is an old train station that now is also the Museum of Arts and Workmanship, the Municipal Park, the famous Sete de Setembro Square, where an Obelisk built in 1922 marks the one hundred years of Brazilian independence from Portugal.

Don´t forget that in BH you´ll find the best food in Brazil ever. Hummm
