One nice place yo visit is Feira do Açaí

It is close to the fort and is the site of the Feira do Açaí, a market supplied by boat with the fruits of the açaí palm, a common local tree, which are used in the making of ices and fruit drinks.

In Belem you can experience pizza with palm heart and jambú (regional plant of Pará that makes your tongue shiver) - it's extraordinary!
The Café Imaginário has the best in town and is also a very nice place to hang out, listen to live music and enjoy the colorful ambiance!

When in Belem check out Mercado Ver-o-Peso.
This place characterizes the city and is definitely a must see. This waterfront market's name comes from colonial times, when the Portuguese would ver o peso (check the weight) of merchandise in order to impose taxes.

The market's four-turreted iron structure is known, aptly enough, as the Mercado do Ferro. It was brought over in parts from Britain, and assembled and inaugurated in 1901. A profile of the turrets is commonly used as a symbol of Belém.

The 4 turreted iron structure inside the market (which is visible from well outside of it) is known as the Mercado do Ferro. It was brought over in parts from Britain, and assembled and inaugurated in 1901. A profile of the turrets is commonly used as a symbol of Belém.
