    Default Local Foods

Mineiro food is very classic to this region and the recipes have been passed down from generation to generation. Some of the famous dishes are beans and manioc meal, corn breads and cakes, cheese rolls, chicken and okra, chicken in blood sauce, cookies, corn meal and collard greens, feijoada or black beans and pork, guava paste, and mineiro caramel. Brazilians love to wash down their meal with liqueurs made from jabuticaba, a berry or pequi, a savannah fruit, & Cachaça or sugar cane brandy, and delicious coffee.

Yes, this is a typical food of Minas Gerais state, which is located next to São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Bahia states.

Minas Gerais also produces the best cheese and milk of Brazil!

Accordong to many tourists and food critics, You will get no better meat in Belo Horizonte, then that of Fogo de Chão in BH is one of the chains best. Wonderful salad bar that complements the meat. Excellent wine collection and top service. A must go in BH.
