    Default The Caipirinha

I'm compelled to make a post about this absolute best seller.
If you never had it, you're probably missing out the best of life

The Caipirinha is an internationally known Brazilian cocktail. No one's really sure about when it first came around, but every one's sure its a good call whenever you hit a bar!!
It is originally made of Cachaça (a "sweet" brazilian rum made of sugar cane), lime, and sugar.

Simple huh? Don't underestimate it though. It tastes just great, not too strong, not too sweet, not too bitter.

The recipe is pretty simple, so, enjoy:

Throw some lime wedges (around 6 or 7) into an old-fashion glass. Add white sugar (2 table spoons).
CRUSH it. Yeah, put some energy into it, it must be really well crushed and the lime juice and the sugar must blend in together.
Add 1 shot (thats 2oz) of cachaça (you could use vodka instead, although the original is better).
    Finally, add some ice.
Voila, you can enjoy one of the best drinks in the world.

Feel free to share experiences about this awesome drink as well as different recipes for it!

Hi Paulistano, nice to meet you!

I am from São Paulo city, and I just want to say that you are absolutely correct!!!

Caipirinha is the most famous typical drink in Brazil, but instead of Pinga, the most popular ingredient, you may also use Vodka, so "Caiprinha of Vodka".

Great drink to follow your meals in Brazil!

Caipiirinha is a very popular drink in Europe as well. I lived in London and this drink is very popular in many bars and restaurants the same as mojito, mai tai, cosmopolitan and other cocktails. Many european bars have in stock Sagatiba Cachaca, it's not bad but I prefer Velho Barreiro, in my opinion is the best brazilian rum in the market. I would also suggest to make caipirinhas with Strawberry and Passion Fruit. In this case add only 2 slices of lime wedges and 4 or 5 fresh fresh strawberries. Enjoy!!!

Hello, you can use Cachaça or Vodka, no problem, but you can also make a Caipirinha of Sake...Yes, it is so delicious!!!

Try making a Caipirinha of Japanese Sake (Sake, crushed lemon, and sugar). You will love it!!!

Wow, sounds delicious! I could go for one of those right now. Certainly, there are drinks that match up perfectly
with certain foods. My question is what foods would best be served with this drink?

I would go for Strawberry Caipirinha! I make the same way as the traditional caipirinha but I put only 2 slices of lime and 6 piece of strawberries... delicious!@@@ Ah, Velho Barreiro, still the best Cachaca
