Museu Paulista, a.k.a Museu do Ipiranga, which is located in São Paulo, was built between the years 1885 and 1890 as a monument to the proclamation of Brazil's independence from Portugal on September 7, 1822 by prince regent Pedro, who became Dom Pedro I, the first emperor of the new nation.
