Seafood would be my number one choice. Any dishes with seafood should be allright. But again, it will depend on the price as well.

I like seafood a lot. My favourites are fish, lobstars and prawns. They are available in brazil in plenty and these are cheap.

I heard quite a number of seafood stuffs in this forum, I think the seafood there is cheaper and better than my place, I usually eat more fish compare to others not because I like the taste but due to health reasons.

Which is the best city to get good fresh fish in Brasil? I am really into salmon, swordfish etc but I cant see myself eating mussels, prawns or stuff like that. I honestly feel as though I am eating worms.

My kids love seafood especially shrimp, crabs and squid. Whenever I don't eat meat, I replace it with fish on my diet. The list will include salmon, tuna, St. Peter's fish (popularly known in our ountry sa 'tilapia'), and milkfish.

I love seafood! There are different types of fish and seafood eaten in Brazil It mainly depends on
what region you live in. In the west, northwest and southwest locations people in these areas
mostly eat freshwater fish taken from the Amazon Basin. People who live on the coasts eat a wider
    variety of seafood and shellfish.

Yes, the Brazilian seafoods are one of the best in the world. Brazil has a very immense and rich coast, with thousands of sea species.

When in Brazil, please try oysters on the ice and lemon! A wonderful seafood indicated to our hot and sunny days! But, please, don´t forget to ask for an nice and icy beer to follow your icy oysters.

I would also ask you to try some shellfish in sauce. It is a wonderful seafood! Very well prepared by Brazilian restaurants, specialy near the beaches.

In the Brazilian cities, specially near the beaches, there are many excellent restaurants serving "Rotation Seafoods". You can eat whatever you want under a fixed price, so you can eat many kind of seafoods for a low price. Please, try it when in Brazil.

"Rotation Seafoods" in Portuguese means "Rodízio de Frutos do Mar", so please, ask for some good Rodízio de Frutos do Mar, and someone will indicate you many of them.

When in Brazil, please don´t forget to eat a "Tainha Grelhada". Tainha is the name of a famous and delicious fish from cold waters in the sea, and this fish can be found in the Brazilian south coast, like Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Paraná, and São Paulo, too, in the winter.

Tainha grilled, this is the fish!!! Bon appetit...

I had no idea which fish you were talking about so I did a research and found this: Flavors of Brazil: FISH OF BRAZIL - Tainha (Mullet)
It's basically the mullet! It's got the name of an old hairdo, like the one David Bowie had!!

I really love seafood! Here is one of my favorite Brazilian Seafood dishes:

Caruru de Camarão (Brazilian prawn and okra)

Ingredients:1 pound bag of fresh okra, cut into 1 inch pieces, 1/4 cup manioc meal (corn starch can also be used), 2 cups fish stock, 1 pound fresh tiger prawns, peeled and de-veined, 1 onion, finely chopped, 2 cloves of garlic, finely chopped, 3 tablespoons olive oil, salt and pepper to taste
Method: Cook the okra in boiling water for 3 minutes, drain immediately and set it aside. Stir the manioc meal into two cups of fish stock. Bring to a boil and cook, for three minutes, stirring continuously.
In a separate pan, sauté the onion and the garlic in the olive oil until soft. Add the prawns and sauté until pink. Season with salt and pepper.
Stir the stock and manioc meal into the pan with the onions and shrimp. Add the okra and stir until heated through. This dish can also be prepared with peanuts, for a richer flavour. To do this you would simply add 1 cup of ground roasted peanuts (unsalted), when adding the onion and garlic to the pan. This dish is traditionally served with boiled rice and lime wedges.

Oh yes, most definitely! One popular fish that's served in many restaurants is called snook- known to local residents as robalo--is mostly found around Rio de Janeiro. Another great seafood dish to eat is bacalhau, which is cod that has been dried and then salted. Some other delicious seafood fish native to Brazil are black grouper (sirigado), kingfish and bonito. Enjoy!

Yes, for sure. Brazil has one of the best seafoods in the world. Brazil has a vast coast with many beaches, hot and green waters.

Try to eat Tainha Assada, Cambucu, Pescada Branca, Porquinho Assado, Salmão, etc...

    I agree, try this recipe:

    Seafood Mocequa

    Original Recipe Yield 4 servings

    Ingredients

    • 2 pounds firm white fish, such as monkfish, cut into 2-inch pieces
    • 1/2 pound medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
    • salt and pepper to taste
    • 3 tablespoons dende oil (red palm oil), or canola
    • 1 onion, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
    • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
    • 2 tomatoes, seeded and diced
    • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
    • 2 long, hot peppers, seeded and chopped
    • 1/2 cup fish stock
    • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
    • 1 bunch green onions, diced
    • 2 bay leaves
    • 1 1/2 teaspoons hot pepper sauce (e.g. Tabasco™), or to taste
    • 1/2 cup coconut milk

    Directions

    1. Toss fish and shrimp together with salt and pepper to taste; set aside. Heat dende oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Stir in onions and cook until softened and translucent. Add the garlic, and continue cooking until the onions turn golden brown.
    2. Stir in tomato and cook for 5 minutes, then stir in the red and hot peppers; continue cooking until softened. Pour in fish stock, cilantro, green onions, bay leaves, and hot sauce. Bring to a simmer over medium-high heat, then reduce heat to medium, and simmer until reduced by 1/4.
    3. Pour in the coconut milk, then stir in fish. Simmer until the fish is firm and opaque. Serve immediately

I love seafood! We need it in our bodies. Seafood contains essential oils which are an important portion of your diet. Oils supply the energy source we need plus they are also great flavor enhancers.

Try a "Casquinha de Siri" when in Brazil. This is a very good seafood to eat as an appetizer with beer, etc.

Siri would be a kind of crab (small red crab), very present in the Brazilian waters, at the beaches.

Are there Sushi Bars in Brazil? Recently, I have discovered this fine appetizer and was just curious as to the popularity of it in Brazil. Wikipedia's definition of Sushi is - " is a Japanese delicacy consisting of cooked vinegared rice (shari) combined with other ingredients (neta). Neta and forms of sushi presentation vary"

I would like to share the recipe of my favorite beer appetizer, The German Beer Cheese.
Serve as a spread with crackers or rye rounds. This is very easy to make, and great for parties.

    INGREDIENTS
    1/2 pound Cheddar cheese
    1/2 pound Swiss cheese
    2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
    1 teaspoon dry mustard
    1 small clove garlic, mashed
    1/2 cup beer

Shred very cheeses finely. Or use meat grinder, using finest blade.

Add Worcestershire sauce, dry mustard, garlic, and enough beer to make a mixture of spreading consistency.

Turn into a 3-cup rounded bowl pack firmly. Chill. Unmold and serve at room temperature.
    Makes about 3 cups

That sounds really delicious, but sticking to the topic of seafood, I would like to share this wonderful recipe I found. It's called Seared Scallops with Ginger and Green Onions. It consists of:

    (Yield: 4 Servings)

    Ingredients:
    16 sea scallops
    2 tablespoons butter
    2 tablespoons vegetable oil
3 tablespoons minced peeled fresh ginger root
1/2 bunch green onions, thinly sliced
    3 tablespoons lemon juice
    2 tablespoons dry sherry
    1/2 teaspoon turmeric
    Salt andd pepper to taste

    Directions:

    1. Heat the butter and 1 tablespoon oil in heavy large skillet over high heat. Add scallops to skillet and sear until brown, about 1 minute per side. using a slotted spoon, transfer the scallops to a plate and set aside.
    2. Add the remaining oil to skillet and heat until hot. Add ginger, green onions and turmeric to skillet and sauté until fragrant. Add the lemon juce and sherry and bring to a boil.
    3. Return scallops and their juices to skillet; toss until heated through. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Serve immediately.

    Enjoy your meal !!
