I saw a picture of feiojoada somewhere in this forum. It looks so delicious. Can anyone tell me what it is made of? I wanted to taste it, too... Darn, I am very far away from Brazil.

Are there a lot of prawns and lobsters in Brazil? We have plenty of this delicious food in my country though quite expensive. There are also a lot of crabs here Makes me feel hungry...

My favorite Bazilian dishes are Feiojoada, Bolinho de chuva, empadas, or empadinhas, and Frango ao Vinho (Breast of chicken in red wine sauce).

Feiojoada is a stew of beans with beef and pork meats, considered the national dish, which was brought to South America by the Portuguese.

The Brazilian feijoada is prepared with black turtle beans, with a variety of salted pork and beef products such as salted pork trimmings (ears, tail, feet), bacon, smoked pork ribs, at least two types of smoked sausage and
    jerked beef (loin and tongue).

This stew is best prepared over slow fire in a thick clay pot. The final dish has the beans and meat pieces barely covered by a dark purplish-brown broth. The taste is strong, moderately salty but not spicy, dominated by the flavors of black bean and meat stew.

I frequent a Brazilian restaurant not far from my home. The best dishes there are the seafood. They prepare an amazing shrimp dish that I crave for on a regular basis. It has a fairly thick clear sauce. Anybody have an idea what I am eating? LOL

    Wink The best Brazilian dishes.

For me, the best Brazilian dishes that I've ever tasted are the Abobora Refogada, Bistecca, Feijoada, and the Tutu de feijão.

Abobora Refogada is a side dish that is made with pumpkin.
Bistecca is made out of sauteed collard greens and pork chops.
Feijoada is a stew of beans with pork meats.
    And the
Tutu de feijão is made with is made with mashed beans and thickened with toasted manioc flour.

Currently, these dishes are the one's that I remembered when the topic is about Brazilian dishes.

Feijoada looks very delicious. I learned that this is a very heavy meal, Its ingredients (black beans with different kinds of meat such as ribs, pork, sausage, dried beef, and bacon) are really mouthwatering. I need to taste this one when I get to Brazil.

What do you guys think about Caipirinha, Brazil's national cocktail. Is it delicious and enjoyable drink?

This traditional drink goes with the Feijoada. Since Feijoada is in general a particularly heavy dish, so Brazilians believe that it must be watered-down with a Caipirinha.

    Talking Yeah...

I have taste Caipirinha... It can be paired on different kind of heavy food.

The waiter told me that it is made from Cachaça,sugar, and lime. Cachaça is the national cocktail of Brazil. Well, for me it's a little hard because of Cachaça. Maybe that's the reason why they used to pair it with heavy foods.

hmmmm....I like Picadinho de Milho I once had this wonderful "botequim" dish in a restaurant called Doce Delícia in Ipanema. Try it with Brazilian rice, farofa and mandioca frita. Or, with just rice and a poached egg. Simply delicious.

Farofa is one of the great dishes in Brazil too!. It is a Brazilian side dish made out of toasted cassava.

Couve Mineira is the accompaniments to the national dish feijoada.

Coxinha is a chicken croquette which is shaped like a chicken thigh.

Pasteis are small half-moon shaped pastries with a wide variety of fillings.

I've included here side dishes and pastries. Try them on!

Brazilians eat beef frequently as cattle are raised in several regions of Brazil. A favorite dish in southern Brazil is churrasco, long skewers full of grilled meats of all kinds. What ya'll think about this dish?

I love churrasco...i'm a big meat eater...I think Churrasco is more of a way of cooking rather than a dish. It's the term they use for a barbecue.

For all meat lovers, go to a Churrascaria which is a restaurant that serves grilled meat. Servers would go around holding big skewers of meat and you can just choose which one you like and they will slice meat on your plate.

It's like an eat-all-you can but instead of going to a buffet table you just call the server holding the meat you want! Yummy!!!
