National heroes
In every country there are national heroes who were looked up to because of their achievements and efforts that makes a country's history. Do you know who are the heroes of Brazil? Thanks

José Bonifácio de Andrada e Silva (1763–1838) is regarded as the "Patriarch of Independence" in Brazil. He was responsible to advise the so Prince Regent of Brazil, Pedro de Alcantara, about Portugal's intentions to downgrade Brazil to colonial status, after years the Portuguese American territory was already joint to the European metropolis as a united kingdom. This attitude convinced the Prince Regent to declare the independence of Brazil in 7 September 1822, becoming himself the new independent country's emperor, titled as Pedro I of Brazil.
i don't know about others.

This is him, right? Anyway, i searched National Hero in brazil and there are many heroes appeared. Mostly involved in Brazil's independence.

Yes, such other countries, Brazil has many heroes, such as Joaquim José da Silva Xavier, Tiradentes.
His nickname Tiradentes would be such as "a dentist who extracts teeth", because he was a Dentist and Merchant in the years 1746-1792.
Tiradentes was a Nacional Heroe who has fought against the colonists who exploited the Brazilian people, charging high taxes, and being very unfair to the people.

Pele was once considered the best soccer players in the world. He made his first appearance for Brazil at the young age of 16, and won his first World Cup at age 17. He also holds the record for goals scored for Brazil with 77 scored in 92 appearances for his country. He became the youngest ever player to play in a World Cup. I believe he is a Brazilian national hero!

According to history, some of the leading National heroes of Brazil are -
- Luis Alves de Lima e Silva, Duke of Caxias

- Jose Bonifacio de Andrade e Silva

Ha, I remember this people when I was studying history in the school.

Yes, Independence was the most critical moment of Brazil, and Dom Pedro I was the key person for that.

Did you also know that Republican democracy was suppressed a number of times in the 20th century by coups and dictatorships. The last period of military rule ended in 1985 and in 1989 Fernando Collor became Brazil's first democratically elected president for 25 years. He was impeached three years later on corruption charges.

Brazil's National Pantheon – Panteão da Pátria Tancredo Neves, which is located in Brasília, the capital of Brazil, honors the memory of Brazilian national heroes. It is one of 23 buildings in Brasília designed by Oscar Niemeyer that were chosen by the architect himself to be listed as National Heritage Sites by Iphan, the National Historic and Artistic Heritage Institute.

Brazil haven't had so many revolutions as other countries. I think that heroes are personalities who free the people from some kind of oppression.
Analysing from this point of view, I think that Brazil has 3 principal heroes in the history:
1) Joaquim José da Silva Xavier, Tiradentes, in Brazil, he is recognized as a martyr of Conspiracy in Minas Gerais, Brazil's patron civic, who faced the econonical oppression in the century XVIII;
2) Princess Isabel - who was nicknamed the Redeemer for having, through the "Lei Áurea", abolished slavery in Brazil, in the century XIX;
3) Dom Pedro I - who has fought for the independence of Brazil from Portugal empire, in the century XIX.

Did you know that according to the Latin American Herald Tribune " An 18th century Guarani leader who fought and died defending indigenous lands from the Spanish and Portuguese armies has become the first Indian officially recognized as a Brazilian national hero. Sepe Tiaraju, previously unknown to most Brazilians, now shares that honor with 11 other figures in the nation’s history, including an emperor, five military leaders, the inventor of the airplane and the leader of a slave rebellion."

Brazil had a few Revolutions, so I think that Tiradentes was the most important heroe that Brazil has ever had.

I think Brazil has very few heroes. The more popular in my opinion is the last president Luis Inacio Lula da Silva. He is really adored by great part of population. When ellected people are very emotional as he was the first worker to get so high position in Brazilian government ever.
