Thread: who composed the background music for the movie Gladiator?

Hello there,
Anyone know that who composed the background music for the movie Gladiator. I heard that its a Brazilian music director. It has been haunting me since i saw that movie. Its a good relief and its all about maximusus agony and vengeance shown in that movie.Thanks in advance for any replies.

The composer is Hans Zimmer and I don't think he's Brazilian.
He won a grammy for doing the tracks of Pirates of the Caribbean and the Da Vinci Code.
