Thumbs down What genre of music do you really like and why?

What genre of music do you really like and why?

The best genre for me is Acoustic. Acoustic is really cool! I think most of people appreciate this music cause its not so difficult to learn. All you need is a guitar and then the passion in singing. "Boyce Avenue" is one of the best example. I really like their revivals.

    So what's your genre??

I love house and techno music, it keeps me up all and makes me feel like I am always on the go

But I also love Bossanova music which I know Brazil is very famous of. I can't wait to hear Bossa sounds when I get there.

Rio de Janeiro just celebrated the 50th anniversary of bossa nova, the unique Brazilian cocktail of jazz and samba that inspired generations of musicians with hits such as "Girl from Ipanema."

Does any one here know who is the best bossa nova singer in Brazilian entertainment. I want to hear his/her music. I am not really a big fan of Bossa Nova, I just want to hear sample. Thanks!

    Major Brazilian Bossa Nova Stars

    • Astrud Gilberto - At one time, the wife of guitarist Joao Gilberto, and one of the most famous vocalists of the bossa nova era, Astrud Gilberto's blase, lilting vocals are featured on the legendary 1963 Stan Getz version of "The Girl From Ipanema."

    • Joao Gilberto- guitarist and vocalist Joao Gilberto sauntered into international celebrity during the late 1950s, whispering his lyrics and slowing the samba down to match his unique style of syncopated acoustic guitar. When Joao met up with songwriter Antonio Carlos Jobim, they recorded the song "Chega de Saudade," and bossa nova was born. Within the first few years of his recording career, Gilberto became a household word, especially after jazz saxophonist Stan Getz adopted bossa nova as his signature sound, and recorded with Joao and his wife Astrud Gilberto.

    • Antonio Carlos Jobim
    • Joyce
    • Nara Leao
    • Carlos Lyra
    • Baden Powell
    • Marcos Valle
    • Vinicius de Moraes

This is “New” Bossa, stripped down and re-sung for the modern era. The sound is a little less lush, the percussion is sharper, but the guitar still leads and the piano still lends a romantic tone. This album has pin-sharp production and Sabrina’s jazz-inflected vocals sing out in total control over the orchestration. This album has a host of pop and rock influences and the songs will bring a smile to your face and a sway to your hips. This is hi-energy Bossa and so good. There is also a Bossa Nova cover of Carole King’s “Its too late” and it is very fine.
