I don't know the poverty rate. I wish nobody was poor. I think the best way to end poverty is to spread education. The more education, the less poverty.

Yes being well educated can help you overcome poverty. There have been various cases of people that grew up in poor areas that go to school and eventually end up being successful and wealthy. Education is the key to success, and it includes education from various sources, not just school. Anything constructive that you learn is good, even if you don't learn it off a professional.

lets not focus on the poverty rate, rather focus on eradication of poverty and the deletion of this word from the dictionaries, like an extinct animal species.education among the common man is the best way to eradicate it,by education i don't mean general education i mean smart education so that an educated man can not only read and write but can also take care of financial matters with ease.offering them free education,a free meal with some amount of money for everyone who attends the classes,on a daily basis can help.we all need to rise for it.

I thought it suppose to be "Attack the source not the problem?" and I think such problems can't be solved as easy as it seems where poverty has exist for thousand of years and despite we have such technology and such it's funny how more than half of the population in this world are living in poverty.

Bingo!!!! That`s why I love to support this little school in Sao Paulo . I even go and spend time there teaching art ones a year. Alot of parents can`t pay and the private school is always standing on thin ice as the city big time taxed them on top of all. Crazy!!!!

Just to answer the question about the poverty rate, as of June 2006 (hopefully it decreased this year), 18.57% of the population is burdened. Well, Brazilian government is having their 2016 projection of eradicated poverty! Also, they are passing new laws that regulates social responsibility that might help in reducing the rate. Let's just hope and pray that they will succeed in their aspirations..
