Hello, I live in São Paulo and I am a native Brazilian.

Well, I have never been to Acre, because it is a state very far from São Paulo, into Amazon Forest. São Paulo is located in the southeast region and Acre is located in the northwest of Brazil. All the territory of Acre was bought from Bolivia in the XIX century.

I'm from São Paulo also, and unfortunally I've never been to Acre....it is pretty far. Like someone said in this post, it was bought from Bolivia in the previous century.

"Rio Branco" the capital, is known for it's mixed culture, from indian tribes, northern and southern states. I've heard they have very unique food there!

I have never been to Acre and not sure I would like to go there. I hear that the public health syatem is very poor. Only Rio Branco has piped water, and no city in Acre (including Rio Branco) has a sewage system. Disenteria and malaria are main causa mortis of children.

Here are a few of my picks for best places to eat in Acre:

Ostradamus Bar e Restaurante - Great Seafood!

Bar do Arante - Many dishes like fish, oyster, shrimps, crabs, etc.

Taiko - Upscale and a bit spendy, but very nice!
