yes it is also a good place to visit. Brazil is very much popular for different type of local wines. so you should go to the bar if you are alcoholic. you will get the real chill out environment there.

wow!!! I went to Fortaleza 10 years ago and I really enjoyed. I still remember the beautiful beaches, like Praia do Cumbuco, I still remember the donkeys walking on the sandy, I ordered in the restaurant macaxara or mandioca wedges and it was delicious. The beach park is beautiful and really nice place to go for fun. You will see in the park a beautiful pool with water slides, slippery dips and water fountains. There is a beach just next door. Also, the dune buggy trip is amazing. They will ask you "with fun" or "without fun"? If you don't wanna have a heart attack chose with "no fun" but even this one is very nice!!!!!

You really should visit Centro Cultural Dragao do Mar. This is a cultural complex that includes museums,
planetarium, movies, library and really nice quaint bars and restaurants.
They are painted with strong colors, this is an awesome place for lively music and fun. Enjoy!

FORTALEZA is a sprawling city of over two million inhabitants, its center consists of offices and apartment blocks. It has, for well over a century, been the major commercial hub of the northern half of the Northeast.

I agree with travel lover regarding Jericoacoara Beach. It is very beautiful and has a very inviting atmosphere that is very difficult to ignore. The signature of nature that is around the place is also very outstanding and it is just perfect for someone that wants to escape the rush of city life and get to some where that is a lot more quiet and inviting.

Yes, Fortaleza is a very beautiful beach town, with many wonderful beaches, and I would recommendyou to see Cumbuco beach, where Rede Globo Television has filmed some famous TV Shows. There is an excellent Resort in front to the beach.

Check out Cumbuco Beach. this is a stunning beach of Cumbuco you can live in luxury and experience truly friendly and professional service for amazing rates. If you are into kiting they have some of the best kitesurfing conditions right opposite, and full service for kiters.

I'm not to sure about the rates, although Cumbuco is growing in popularity, I still think it's an overpriced tourist trap and the beaches aren't that great compared to other beaches in Ceara.

I'm also surprised as to why nobody has mentioned Paracuru, Guaramiranga or Pacoti. Guaramiranga and Pacoti, located in the hills just outside Fortaleza, is breathtaking. It sits about 7-800 meters asl and has lush vegetation and beautiful architecture. Every weekend there are parties and festivals here. There are breathtaking views, waterfalls and hundreds of hiking trails.

Paracuru and Canoa Quebrada is my favorite place, especially Paracuru that has truly beautiful beaches and the city centre has a very nice church in the centre square and lots of nice restaurants and bars. The atmosphere here is truly amazing and the is the perfect to go out and eat at night.

I'm not saying Cumbuco aint a good place, but I think Cumbuco has gained popularity beeing so close to Fortaleza. For kitesurfers I guarantee you that if you come to Paracuru, Taiba, Jericoacora, you wont even think about Cumbuco. The conditions are so much better up north. Cumbuco has one lagoon which is good for kiting, however, in the high season it's way too crowded. The ocean in Cumbuco is way too choppy to kitesurf in my opinion.

If you have the time, then there are several really nice places outside the city worth visiting.

Be sure to visit Praia do Futuro, which means Beach of the Future, in Portuguese.

Did you know that Praia do Futuro, unlike the other urban beaches, doesn't have a line of reefs and corals near the shore; thanks to this difference, it is the preferred beach of those who look for swimming and bathing.
