The warm water and soft sandy beaches are favorite reasons why tourists flock here. But the events and activities here in Fortaleza are another dynamic for which this city really excels. Tourists from all over the world travel here to engage in the festivals put on by the locals. Carnival season is just spectacular because all types of acts and bands are on display throughout the streets during February. If you like historical buildings and artifacts there are many of those here, also. The Fortaleza Cathedral is an example. At night the city really becomes alive, so you will know it is really a place to party. The area known as the Drago de Mar Center of Art and Culture is filled with all types of bars and music clubs. On the weekends the nightlife goes on until the morning hours

I love the beaches of Fortaleza, such as Praia do Futuro, Cambucu, etc.

If you are interested in fine dining, you have to check out - Boi Preto in Fortaleza.
It is very nice ambience, with views from the panoramic windows across Meireles beach and up Beira Mar. They claim to be a steakhouse or grill but are actually a churrascaria in the Brazilian tradition and all the better for it. Maybe a bit of a hidden gem; it´s crowded with Brazilians at midday but despite the location most tourists seem to walk right by it in the evening

When in Fortaleza, I love to go to the "Praia do Futuro", it would be Future Beach in English.

If you enjoy relaxing and to not be bothered with people trying to sell you all kinds of stuff and eat great food, then you need to go to Beach Park. There you can experience Aqua Park, where you can use their beach.
It's 25 minutes away from the city, but definitely worth going there. It is not as cheap as the "barracas" at Praia do Futuro, but the service are much better and the beach is so much more quiet.

Yes, Danno. You are absolutely right!
Beach Park is a very beautiful and amazing place for relaxing.
No people bothering you in the beaches, as usually happens in almost all beaches of Brazil.
