    Default Havaianas Flip Flops

Here in the Philippines, it is a craze! Everybody wants to wear one. Since it originated in Brazil, do you love wearing it too?

Have you heard the news that Havainas from Brazil was pulled out of the market due to its high lead content? The officers from DTI Philippines cut it into pieces. I wish I could get at least a pair before this happened.

Though it became popular here in my country (Philippines) I don't really like its price especially now there's lead content issue.

Maybe I am one of the few Filipinos who did not go with the Havaianas craze. I simply found it impractical to buy a rubber slipper worth just a little less of my one-day salary!

Then, later on, having been found with high lead content. I don't have any regrets not buying it.

If you buy a Havainas slippers you are paying only the brand name. I still prefer slippers that are quality tested yet fashionable like "tribu."

I think you must speak about it:

    Recall of U.S. Havaianas

Paint used on children's models would lead to excess. In Brazil, no problem

U.S. - Sandals Havaianas children are going through a recall in the U.S.. The U.S. subsidiary of Alpargatas, manufacturer of sandals, confirmed that some models with decorative paintings are being collected because the ink used in the sole of a shoe containing lead above the level permitted by U.S. law.

It is estimated that the volume reaches 210 thousand pairs. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the body that checks the safety of products sold in the U.S., said the initiative was to recall the very Alpargatas. And that suggests, as a precaution, consumers there to stop using the sandals. In Brazil and other countries, no problem involving the products, which continue to be sold normally.

    PRICE TO $ 24

The models that are part of the recall were sold in the U.S. between the months of November 2006 and February this year. Cost between $ 15 and $ 24.

Lead is highly toxic if ingested and can cause serious health problems. On release, the organization emphasizes that no American case of contamination was recorded in the country.

According to Alpargatas, the sandals with the painting will not be exchanged even in the U.S.. The company estimates that the process of exchange of products take about 12 weeks.

The Alpargatas Brazil explained that the paint containing lead was used in a lot of sandals sold in the U.S. and was replaced by another type of substance. The discovery would have happened in tests made by the company, which then decided to make the recall.

so no problem for me, I can have a hundred

It's a great flip-flops! Comfortable, nice look and very cheap if you BUY it in Brazil. My friend lives in London and paid 20 pounds for 1 pair. With this money you can buy 3 or 4 in Brazil. Im surprised that something happened in US about it....

Havaianas are not all that hot if you ask me. They are not environmentally green products and the hype that surrounds them is really exaggerated. Some people take it too far to wear them even for a professional meeting!

Some love to wear Havaianas while some prefer to wear Ipanema. I know this are both made in Brazil but which do you think is better. Havaianas or Ipanema?
