Default Do you feel yourself lucky or unlucky to speak Portuguese?

    Hi,

I noticed that the whole majority of South America speaks spanish.
    Only Brazil doesn't, correct?
How would be if in the past, instead of Portugal, was Spain who colonised Brazil?
    Would you be happy?
well... At least you could argue with Argentinian people in the football in the same language...., right?

Hey Jonnking, is the Portuguese language similar to Spanish? In other words do you share many words linguistically with the people of Brazil?

    Excellent question!

Yes, if Brazil was colonized by Spanishes in the past, maybe Brazil would be better for a long time, because our language isn´t so spoken in the world, a few countries in the world speak Portuguese (Portugal, Brazil, and a few countries in Africa continent).

Portuguese Emperors (Portugal Empire) were very bad in the past, England has dominated Portugal for many decades in the past.

Portugal has got Brazil due to the "Treaty of Tordesilhas" during the great colonization period.

Brazil and Spain have divided South America, according to the "Treaty of Tordesilhas" for the new discoverd lands overseas.

Thanks to the Tordesilhas Treaty we speak Portuguese, but it would better to speak spanish? I am not so sure, perhaps for business would be better as many people can speak spanish rather than portuguese...
