I am a new lady in this beautiful place, next year will be my Gap year living and travelling around in Brazil. I wanna open a bankaccount as soon as i get there then my parents can send me money. Is it easy to do it? can you tell me some good banks to put my money in? thanks!!!!

-Proof of address
-Identification card or passport
-CPF

There are banks that will only allow foreigners to open an account with them if they are here on business and can prove this through a Carteira de Trabalho (Work Card). There are others that a bit more flexible and all you have to do is present the documents listed above to ensure that you can open an account.

If you find too much hassle, there is always Western Union that you can resort to. The only problem are the high charges that your family will have to pay to be able to transfer money to you here in Brazil. Banco do Brasil is the only bank that you can collect Western Union transactions.

Paypal is available in Brazil, but I think you can´t pay purchases in Brazil using Paypal, because Paypal workss on Dollar.
