Windows XP for me, I used Vista before and I find it slow with those pop ups asking for permission and stuff and kinda unstable but I guess mainly it's still rather new.

No doubt Vista is better but still I would go with Windows Xp. Vista tends to slow down the system whereas this is not the case with Xp. It will still take some time fro me, to switch from Xp to Vista completely.

Apparently the Vista does lhave nice look and feel, I just don't like its "engine" and thus I have made a Vista theme on my Windows XP

yes i certainly agree, vista is better but the configuration requirements are high like 2GB RAM and 160GB hard disk for good performance, which is not available with everyone,on the other hand xp is better since it works perfectly fine on comparatively quite lower configurations and also microsoft has released 32 updates of xp till date as compared to 4 of vista which makes xp a veteran, but with time when people will get better configurations i think vista will prevail.

I have the link and yeah it looks almost like the original but doesn't take much RAM at all. You can get it from download.com as well.

I hope it works well on your computer

Although Vista has a lot of cool stuff, I still prefer XP.

Anyone tried Windows XP Service Pack 3 which just released last month? Btw it seems no one like Vista at all, heck even some of my friends change Vista back to XP.

I would suggest stay away from Service Pack 3, as one of my friend tried it, and was left stranded. There is a huge compatibility problem with music players and other softwares(non-microsoft one). Besides, it tends to slow down the speed of one's computer.

The problem is actually that Microsoft gets sometime more biased with its new software. They do it for their own sake rather than the user, like one of the instance I remember of Microsoft distributing free IE embedding in the O.S to compete with their rival...huh

Well the sad thing there's not much competition which makes them not serious in most of their doings, I hope to see at least one OS that would kick its ass... maybe like Mac or Linux.

You missed Google, the big rival of Microsoft, who has already entered into the software market emerging as a big competitor. And now soon , we are going to see google O.S in the near future, as they are planning for one since long.

yes it will be out in 2008 itself, upgrading to vista is not a good option unless you have loads of RAM,the launch of google o.s will give serious competition to microsoft like it did in all the other cases.

I read an article and it looks promising, the OS would be very affordable and simple to use. It would take up very few resources and security would be good. I believe with its reputation it would able to plenty of supports from various developers alike. I hope it does came out this year as ankuranks said but I guess delay might happen.

yes the security level will be high but yeah nuaeman all good things do take some time, but when it will be out the microsoft guys will be atleast serious about what they provide and it will decrease their dominance over other o.s.

The only best part of Google O.S as far as I think will be the complex interface and the security. May be we can also expect its first version to be very cheap or almost free.

Nice to know we have tech lovers here, look at the pages growing , as for the complexity I heard there would be advanced functions available but users can choose it to be simple or advanced.

At the office, we are using XP. At home, we are using Vista. My brother bought a laptop with Vista already installed. I prefer XP but I am used to Vista though. I don't have a choice since it is not my laptop I don't like the pop ups in Vista too and it occupies so much space.

I still prefer XP. For me, Vista is just eye candy, and I don't think my old computer can handle Vista's requirements.

As a Windows user for 6 years. I recommend you to use XP than Vista. Xp has the best feature and almost the perfect OS. I haven't had any problem using it. In vista most of my applications has errors in installing and it makes me mad. i switched to XP and using until now. So far very good!

I am using both... XP Pro in the office and Vista Basic at home. XP and Vista have their own features and advantages over the other.

Soon, Microsoft will not be giving support for XP anymore... or I think they have already stopped doing so. Hence, Vista is the way to go. But given other options, I think I will give them a try.

Of course as it is the latest version. I'm not into laptop as I find it really slows especially with my work. I still prefer desktop Pc's. Though there are still advantages in using laptops.

Vista is full of bugs. Do you wonder why a new operating system will soon to be release its because Vista got some glitches.

I had XP in my desktop, but now I have VISTA in my notebook, and WINDOWS 7 in my desktop.

I prefer VISTA than XP, because I think that VISTA is lighter than XP.

i only use windows 7 and i think it is far more better than vista and XP. it is lighter, the appearance is awesome, setting is good, and the most beautiful and impressive thing is the search button. it is too much qualitative.

All your opinions are very much appreciated.. But still.. i think it will depend on the user.. Some opt for visual performance but others consider its size.. Thanks to all who shared their views and experiences in using these products..
