Default Brazil's best kept secret ?

I was reading some information about Brazil and the cities. It seems that the large and famous ones like San Paolo or Rio are quite violent, complex etc.

But from what little I can understand there are many medium to small towns that seem richer, less violent and all in all more pleasant. Is this true ? To find nice and relatively decent standards of living a person is better off in the small and medium towns ? There are probably not too many jobs but from the maps and wikipedia there seems to be alot of small to midsize towns that seem quite nice. Am I wrong or is it that every town and region has a different situation and there is no possible generalization ?

You can't generalize. For example, some might find living in Joao Pessoa easy but others might find it too laid back for their comfort. Other might enjoys Sao Paolo's complexity. It all depends on the person.

It is not always the case. Like in my place, there are small towns which have high crimes. I think it has something to do also with how the mayor or any officials of the government solve their social problems. Here in the Philippines, food are fresher in the provinces and of course cheaper

Well it is cheaper in the non-urban areas. Expect the prices to be higher in the cities.
