Default Brazil: Going the Cheap Way

There are many ways to have fun in Brazil without having to break the bank so to speak. If you are planning on coming here for a few days then I would really suggest booking one of the many cheap hotels that are here. Rates vary from as little as R$90 a night which is quite cheap given the fact breakfact is included and you get free internet access.

    * Another cheap way to enjoy Brazil is coming here during off peak season. During this time things ar super cheap for foreigners and you can have twice the fun seeing the place without worrying about counting the pennies.

*You can also eat out quite cheap here. Many of the restaurants have what is known as " comida a kilo" where you basically choose what you want to eat for a given weight value. Great option for those that do not eat a lot . Food can cost as little as R$13.40 per kilogram to as much as R$40.00 per kilogram. This depends on where you eat.

*Learn to take thw bus and subway-Contrary to what many people believe, but there is an excellent transportation system in some Brazilian states.

*Rent a small flat- Renting a small flat for a certain period of time can prove to be a lot cheaper that renting a hotel room. With most flats you will get furnished areas and this will allow you to prepare your own food the way you like and a list of other things instead of having to pay for it yourseld.

*Hotels charge a lot here to do our laundry- so much that you buy a whole suitcase of new clothes with the money you are going to spend to wash and iron your clothes. They charge by the "piece" so if you bring a lot of clothes here be prepared to pay a hefy bill to get it washed. I would suggest finding cleaners in the area and hire than. Most of them charge by weight and not "piece" so you pay a lot cheaper than using the hotel.

Just curious but is it possible to rent a scooter over there? Is it safe to drive? Also any information you may have on prices, dealers...etc would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

brazil is great when it comes to cheap food, cheap drinks and cheap shopping in general. you can find beautiful shoes here for half the price you would get them from in the states for example. you can find many restaurants with cheap offers, and also alot of shops which offer discounts and sales almost all year long!
