How about buses and passenger trains? I noticed not many mentioned about it here, are those transportation difficult to get or not so convenient in Brazil?

I never tried buses and passengers trains while I was in Brazil, so don't have much idea about that. For th visitor, i think hiring a car is the best way to go around...

How much would hiring a car cost? Any tips or warnings I should know there to avoid being overcharged and such?

Passenger trains are scarcely used in Brazil. When available, they are slow and not much comfortable. Bus is a better option for travelling through the country. Usually it is the cheapest option when travelling alone.

Same here except my country's capital city, not many countries in fact like Japan has those fast moving trains and such but I think it depends on the country's need and wealth.

    Cool Travelling alone.

When I first land to Brazil, I was alone for a business trip. My company hire a car for me to ride on. They are also the one who spend for my lodging and other expenses.

During my trip, when I don't have a scheduled convention to attend on, I usually walk on the streets to find souvenirs. Sometimes, I call a taxi when I want to explore other cities.During those times, I also rode bicycles and I sometimes run.

With those ways, I really enjoyed my stay in Brazil.
