    I don't think it's getting out of Brazil that is the problem. The problem is getting back to your home country. Luckily, if you have an accent and appearance that is appropriate to your home country, they will probably believe you and help you verify your identity.

    Yeah usually getting into Brazil, or into your home country WITHOUT passport is where it becomes a problem...

    I think you need to get one to travel legally, however, if you misplaced it or it got stolen etc. Contact the authorities and they should be able to help you out. Don't worry, you won't get stuck there

    What are the procedures need to be done when we lost our passports there? I believe the main problem would be the process itself where it would be really hassle and frustrating.

    for sure immigration authorities will never allow without the passport..it is for the safety of the country....

    I do think you can't travel anywhere outside your country without a passport. It is a requirement.

    Yes, it is impossible to travel to other countries without a passport. In fact, most of the countries require visa... Maybe there are some countries that have a special agreement with the Brazil that do not need visa.
