    Thumbs up Guarulhos International Airport

I went to Guarulhos International Airport in July and I must confess that I got lost. luckily, I was able to find my way around and take a bus that left from the airport to Avenida Paulista where I was staying. In this thread I would like to post some useful information for those that are thinking of visiting São Paulo and will be going to Guarulhos International airport.

The airport bus is EMTU. It is located in the ground floor of the airport and you can take it to get to Avenida Pualista and a list of hotels that it offers transport services for. It is owned by the government. The website is located at: http://www.emtu.sp.gov.br/. It is in Portuguese, but should be of help to those that are seeking transport service.

I would not suggest taking a taxi from the airport to anywhere in São Paulo unless you do not have an option. If you decide to take a taxi, make sure that they use the taxi meter and not offer you a fixed price as some companies have the tendency of doing. A fixed price can be more expensive than if they use the taxi meter. There are more than one taxi companies on the ground floor of the airport, so you have a list of options to choose from.

Another useful tip:If you are on a budget try not to rely on the taxi booths that are in the airport to arrange one for you. Sometimes they charge more than 50% of the total travel cost. In São Paulo legal taxi's are red and white as opposed to yellow and black in Rio, so keep an eye out for that also.

Yes, thank you so much for the useful information. Hopefully this will help travelers from getting
ripped off by those gypsy cabs in Brazil. I know that tends to happen a lot here in the United states as well, especially
    in New York City!

There is a really nice reference guide I found on the Internet that can be accessed by going here - Guarulhos International Airport Guide - São Paulo - Brazil - GRU It offers a wealth of information for passengers! Have a good day.

Hello, yes, I am a Brazilian and I just want to say that Taxi services in Brazil is very expensive for us and for everybody.

We Brazilians avoid using taxis, only if there is no option.

The post is correct, and I recommend you to search for the INFORMATION SERVICES desk/reception/balcony when in the airports of Brazil. They are well prepared to clarify and advise you about the best and correct option to go out of the airports toward the cities.

You are right, they always try to take extra money from us. Last week I was in Cannes and I wanted to go to the hotel and the taxi driver charged me 15 euros and I saw in the taxi meter 10.70 euros, He tried to convince me the real price and I argued with him, luckily He didn't have change for 100 euros and I had only 10 euros and a few coins in my pocket, He finally accepted it
