Default Living in Brazil, how hard is to rent a flat?

My wife and I are fed up to live in Europe in pay a lot of money with accomodation, we have to pay 1 month ahead plus 6 weeks deposit in small flats. How it works to rent a flat in Brazil? Do you have a lot of bureaucracy? How is to sign a contract, do you have to put a lot of money in the front or the agencies are flexible?

How much will be in average to rent a 1 bedroom flat in Florianopolis, Rio de Janeiro and Salvador?

    I appreciate your answer

In general, renting flats in Brazil is better than other developed countries. The prices are very lower than others, because the living costs in Brazil is one of the lowest in the world.

Anyway, in Brazil you also should pay 1 month in advance (the first month that you´re going to live), and let a deposit check of related to at least 2 months).

In Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, flats are higher than Florianópolis and Salvador, for example.

I think is very expensive to rent a flat in Florianopolis. 1bedroom flat in the center will cost you at least 1000 reals. A lot, i think...

its simple bro. if you are thinking that the rate in Brazil and UK is same then i think you are in a great great dream!!
living cost in Brazil is low so rent of apartments are also low. but a quality apartment is not in the middle of Rio is not so cheap!
but to get the good one you have to find a lot. you can search online about the real estate agents. they can help you with this.
    thanks

Brazil is cheaper than other countries. Thats true! He said other countries right? You think Brazil is cheaper than America, Japan, Germany and Paris? It's a general question mate. Do not just compare it with Asian countries. Mprado should make this statement clearly.

No, he said: "because the living costs in Brazil is one of the lowest in the world"

And that is definitly not the case. Brazil is actually very very expensive for a country in that development status.

Hello all, please I just want to clarify my posts above by saying that the Brazilian living costs are lower than Paris, London, Berlin, New York, Tokio, that is, related to the most developed cities.

I think that the living costs in Argentina, Paraguay, Colombia, for example, are lower than Brazil yet.

I even doubt that living in Rio or Sao Paulo is cheaper than in Berlin.

The problem is that the living costs are strongly influenced by the currencies, and today everyone knows about the strongly imbalances of them.

For example, the Dollar is undervalued about 40% related to the Brazilian currency - Real, in other words, the Brazilian currency is 40% "artificially" overvalued related to the Dollar. This situation is not sustainable, because Real is overvalued not only by the strong Brazilian economical fundaments, but because the American and European economies are in slowdown.

U.S.A. is inundating the world with dollars and more dollars, so the other currencies tend to artificially overvalue, so the living costs of Brazil are "artificially" high. But, this is an unreal situation.

The rivers and rainforests of the Amazon, the rich biodiversity, the fun-loving culture of Rio, the seemingly endless miles of beaches -- these and more make up the allure of the South American superstar that is Brazil. People who are considering moving to Brazil -- or even those who already live there -- will surely learn something new from the expat interviews featured here. They share what it's like for them living in Brazil, working in Brazil, their interactions with the Brazilians, and many other things they've seen and experienced there as expats.

Sorry renting a flat is not that quite easy in brazil. You will need to have a guarantor that has at a place to offer as collateral or you will be required to give THREE and NOT just one month deposit if you do not have a guarantor. Many places do not even accept deposits and you are left in a rut spending months to find one that accepts desposits if you do not have a gurantor. I am sure this is MUCH EASIER in other countries and not as complicated as it is in brazil. Some real estate agents are also rip off artists in as well in the sense that they find all the many reasons not to refund your deposit after you leave the building. Take it from me that has been there---Renting a flat is NOT easy in brazil, but that does not mean it is impossible!

The most expensive city in Brazil is São Paulo than you have Manaus, in third place Rio de Janeiro, Porto Alegre, Vitória... São Paulo is the most expensive city to live in south America...Renting a flat can be expensive depending on the spot I mean if you rent a flat in Copacabana you gonna pay the same as in Europe maybe more...But it's easy to find a cheap flat for rent, just be careful of the place, make a research for the place you'd like to rent a flat to know if this area is not too dangerous.

I rent a 2 room apartment in Ipanema, through family connections, but it aint cheap even with a reputable guarantor. I pay about 1500 Real and thats quite good I think. But then I also make a choice to live here because I think it is the most beautiful part of Rio. Plus I can walk home safely at night if I want to. Food and such is cheap but accomodation is expensive on the south side. Dont really know about other place since I have mostly visited friends or stayed in hotels for vacation times.

The prices have been growing too much, due to the excellent Brazilian´s economy growth, anyway, Florianópolis is a great city for living and workin!

    Good luck!

it is easy to rent a flat in Brazil, I ve done it many times, all you need is a months rent in advance and away you go. Be careful of some rental agencies in copacabana, they will rip you off, Agencia Heidelberg in Prado Junior Copacabana is a good agency owned I think by a german guy Expect t pay around 1500 reais per month for a half decent flat.

Anyone telling you its cheap to live in Brazil is wrong, Brazil is pretty expensive now, it is not cheap to live here

Hello all, please I just want to clarify what I have posted above:

For decades, Brazil had low prices for a living comparing to other big centers such as New York, Tokio, London, Paris, etc., but nowadays, due to the crisis in Europe and USA, the Brazilian currency (BRL) has overvalued too much against Dollar (USD) and Euro, so I heard this week that the living costs in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro has reached the same values in New York!

Yes, the living costs in the big cities in Brazil, such as São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro are too expensive now. You are correct, but small cities around or out of these big centers still remain lower.

    Default living costs in Brazil

Having lived in Brazil for quite some time I can clarify that yes it is as expensive as London, New York, Paris etc, not only in Rio and Sao Paolo is it expensive but in the smaller towns too, I know because I live in a small town here far from the big cities. It can be argued this is because of the brazilian real at the moment being very strong but also inflation is high here which is also a contributory factor to the high cost of living here. Anyone thinking of going to Brazil take plenty plenty money with you !

get real Mr Mprado, or get your facts straight before you post things you know nothing about, try living here in Brazil and you will see just how expensive it is, not so bad for us gringoes that live here but worse for the poor Brazilians that are existing on a pittance in a country that is becoming too expensive for them to just pay the rent
