Thread: Do you have many immigrants living in Brazil? From where? And if they are illegal?

Where are the majority of immigrants living in Brazil coming from? If someone is illegal and caught by the police they can be deported? I think the police is more worried to control de violence, drugs and other stuff than catch a foreigner illegal, right?

Hi Jonny, as other countries, Brazil has a police for immigrants, but these laws aren´t so hard as in other countries.

Most of the immigrants are from Portugal, Spain, Italy, Germany and Japan. Dutch people has been increasing in Brazil and they are buying lots of lands in the Northeast region, such as Bahia (Porto Seguro).

An illegal immigrant can be deported only if he commits a crime here, otherwise, there are many illegal immigrants living and working in Brazil, anyway, it would be better for all of immigrants be legal when in Brazil.

The first Brazilian Government´s worries are the drugs traffic, and our ports and airports are very vigilants. When caught, some drugs traffickers are arrested in Brazil, and others are deported.

Don't forget the hermanos from Argentina, Paraguai and Uruguai they are also everywhere....

What about people from Britain? Are there many UK living and working there?

Yes, I think in Florianopolis there are a few from England....There is even a pub called Black Swan in the Lagoa da Conceicao!

There are many immigrants living in Brazil, but they are concentrated in the South and Southeast regions, the most developed regions of Brazil. They are Germans, Spanishes, Japaneses, Italians, and other immigrants.

Germans can be more found in the South region, Japaneses and Italians in the Southeast, etc.

Very Interesting! Please tell me are there any Irish Immigrants. The second half of the 19th century there was a mass migration of the Irish to the United States due to the potato famine. Just curious, thank you.
