I have many friends in the US who always ask me about what City in Brazil is the best to go to for Americans. Does anyone have any thoughts about this question ? Maybe some answers to help some people

That's great, Stacy! Many Americans will be happy to know your tips in going to Brazil.
So, what is the best place to go in Brazil?

There are 2 issues, single or married. I have visited a few smaller cities and they all appear similar. I live outside of Rio in a large city. The city is not pretty but everyone works and is respectful. Some people have money and some dont. I walk all over the city and never feel uncomfortable. At night we usually dont walk around only because my wife is afraid. I have walked and felt no problem. Where I live nobody speaks English. Once and awhile I meet a student who knows very basic English. I blend in but once I sepeak everyone knows im American. Usually this is a nice thing but when negotiating with store owners they always try to up the price. Most people are pro-American for our people, our music, electronics, cars, and tv. Most everyomne I meet wants to visit the US and all want t learn English. Back to the answer. Rio is a good place for a single person but for a family I think the outer subs. The dollar is the issue, but even at 1-1 I think Brazil is a better value for necessities. For luxuaries, ex. computer, electronics, cars, they are expensive but many stores allow you to pay 10-20 x or more with no intrist.

Cabo Frio is nice it is on the cost 2 hours past Rio and is like the Hamptons but reasonably priced for everything.

Let's say I'm bringing my computer with me, will I be paying tax for it?
Cabo Frio sounds like a nice place to settle in.
