Thank You, Nice to have a chance to share information.
Hi,
Glad to have someone to share information with!
I am moving to Rio in October hopefully to have more success this time.
I lived in Ipanema for 3 months this year from april to july do you do but had to return to the UK as my visa ran out. I am hoping to get a work visa this time sorted out as i will be working in Investments and off shore banking.
What do you do in Rio and how did you get a permanent visa? I have heard about the £25000 pound investment before you can get a permanent visa. But if ypou work for a registered company in Brazil i should be able to get a work visa.
I love Brazil in general and i know it is going to be a great place to work there.
Kind regards.
Ryan
I have a permenant visa based on my marriage. It was difficult to get the visa with documents translations notary from the council in NY first and then registering the marriage at the City Hall where we live. Finally then I was able to make application at the Federal Police. This process took a year and a half and included many more translated and notarized documents, finger prints, photos and lots of fees and criminal records check from your home city. There were also documents that could only be notarized in Rio and registration at the US council. It was expensive. Initial application restricted me to return in 6 months, then the next 2 visits were 3 months apart. The Federal Police visited my residence to inspect. Then I recieved permence and waited about 8 months for my identidad. Traveling with the protocol while in this process was difficult with the airlines but ok with the federal Police. The airlines dont know what it is. I almost had to use my tourist visa once. The consulate information in the UK should spell out the work and investment visas. Also if you have someone that reads portugese www.mj.gov.br/ is the official site and you can follow your case online. It was fairly acurate with my case. The dollar is coming back but the pound is always better. I live in Nova Iguacu that is a huge city and leaves me no reason to go to Rio other than the beach. Things are cheaper and there are no tourists. Nobody speakks English. Hope I helped.

Your tourist visa can be extended an additional 3 months with a simple visit to the Federal police,
That was some useful information you shared with us Stacy. Thanks!
Can anyone advise if there are any other comapnies in Rio other than SKY TV. I have Sky and cant get American football channels.
Thanks for the information guys, that was helpful! :-)
