Arrow Relocating to Brasil, but questions first

Hello everyone! Thank you to those who answered my prior thread regarding the best course of action to take in obtaining a permanent visa for my wife and I.

I lived in Brasil for a year and a half a few years ago, in SP state, and my wife and I are strongly considering relocating there from the US. She is a native, so Portuguese isn't a problem and I still have retained a good amount of the language from my travels there. With that being said: she and I are actively researching where the greatest 'bang for the buck is' in the country.

I am well educated and will soon start looking for teaching opportunities online. My wife obviously has a much wider variety of employment options there. But our main question is, where is the cost of living lowest but standard of living still reletively high? We are thinking somewhere in the states of Santa Catarina or Rio Grande do Sul. Suggetions or advice, please!

HEy Herr.... Are you planning to teach english? You can try Florianopolis... it's a beautiful city but the majority of work available is for public sector, so, if your wife is happy to study hard for 6/12 months to pass in one of exams she could work for the government... It's a bit tough but I think people who lived abroad has good chance since you can be considered as "open mind" and some of the exams require english and other languages...It's a bit expensive city also because a lot of tourists are living there, however, you could have an opportunity to work with tourism or teach english?

yes i also think that is a good advice. you should have to pass the exam and for your concern i would like to inform that the exam is not so hard so passing this exam is much easy. so you should prepare your wife to attain this kind of exams.
