How does Brazilian culture affect your life? I am wondering about this.
I don't think it affect anything to my current life as I've never been there but it does makes me understand their culture better and perhaps it changes the way I used to think of Brazil such as food and such.
It changed me significantly after 6 years:
- I have become more family centered as opposed to relative 'cold' family relations in Europe
- Experienced that solutions in Brazil not always can be forced my logic and committing to rational procedures (sometimes the 'jeitinho' is the only way to get out of a difficult situation)
- Became aware of the value of money much more (as it is much more difficult to generate continuous security) Wages are much lower and cost of imported goods are generally expensive. --> I have learned though to appreciate much more what Brazil has to offer so I do not feel I miss much,
- I have increased my value system and know it is difficult to judge people that live in extreme poverty or have been educated with a very self centered attitude.
- Learned not to give trust so easily anymore
- Grown my appreciation for nature and and enjoy gardening (6 years ago I wouldn't have the patience for that
- I became more global, not so much Brazilian as I feel I mix all culture & language experiences to some composite being (although some English friends swear I speak English now with a bit off a Brazilian accent)
Thats it
