Things to Eat in Macapá
I remember when I had forofa for the very first time in Brazil- I almost choked
; so, I am interested in knowing about places outside of Rio, São Paulo and Minas Gerais and was just wondering what types of foods are found in Macapá. I know the usual rice and peas will still be there, but wanted to see what additional food can be found. If you have eaten anything interesting in Macapá let me know.
What I found are:
*Tacacá- This looks like something quite tasty; infact it is considered a delicacy in the area. It has a soap base with shrimps, cassava, watercress, garlic, pepper
*Tapioca, Tambaqui- some roots that are commom to the region. The second one is a special kind of fish.
*Gurijuba- another type of fish that is found in the region.
*Acaí- well I guess by now everyone knows what this is
*PATO NO TUCUPI- This is a type of roasted duck that is then cooked in tucupi( a special sauce).
*MANIÇOBA- Perfect dish for vegetarians. Basically it consists of cooked cassava leaves.
*CARURU PARAENSE- Another interesting dish that involves the use of shrimps
*CASQUINHO DE CARANGUEJO -This is basically fried crab legs that is dipped in flour, eggs and a whole lot other seasonings before it is deep fried in very hot oil.

The food - "CASQUINHO DE CARANGUEJO - This is basically fried crab legs that is dipped in flour, eggs and a whole lot other seasonings before it is deep fried in very hot oil" that you mentioned in your post sounds really delicious, do you have a recipe for that? Thanks in advance! :-)
