Default Travelling alone with brazilian born baby

    Hi All

I'm looking for some advice on travelling with a Brazilian born baby.

In a couple of weeks my wife will be travelling alone to the UK with our baby who was born here in Brazil and hence is Brazilian citizen.

Does anybody know if she will need a letter of consent from me (the babys father) in order to get through immigration on her way out of Brazil?

We are both UK citizens, but living Brazil for a few years.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated

    cheers

    Hi,

    there is the rule:

    Ch
Since 4 January 2007 that the Federal Police does not support the point of embarkation for minors under special conditions. From now on, the board of Children with Brazilian nationality, will be made only under the following conditions:
1 - If you are accompanied by both parents.
2 - If you are alone, or in the company of any other family other than a parent, you must have a judicial authorization.
3 - If you are accompanied only by a parent, father or mother and if it is Brazilian, you can board with the permission of the other parent made in registry with name recognition.
4 - If you are accompanied by only one parent and that is foreign, even if it is resident in Brazil can only board with judicial authorization.
If in doubt consult the ACE-Status of Children and Adolescents, Law 8069/90, Article 84 and 85.
The permits are required only for children of Brazilian nationality. If the minor has two nationalities (the Brazilian nationality and another nationality) must also be allowed to prevail the Brazilian.Below the addresses to obtain the authorization:
1ª Vara da Infância e Juventude
Praça Onze de Junho, 403 (ao lado do Sambódromo)
    Funciona de 2ªf a 6ªf das 09.00h às 18.00h
    Telefone ; 2503 6300
    Outside the above hours:
    Plantão Judiciário
Rua D. Manuel, 29 (behind the FORUM)

It is in Rio, if you are outside of Rio search for a Vara da Criança e da Juventude in your city.

    I hope it helps.

    See ya

This is an old question, but just to add some points. You will have to present the child's birth certificate and also consent from a doctor that this child can travel. The age of the child will also depend on traveling regulations since new born babies are a lot more fragile that those that are a few months old.
