Thread: Global Government?

Do you think there is ever going to be a single global government? When? Do you want there to be?

I think there might be a one world government as we can see more union and such after WWII like the European Union, NATO, ASEAN and so on but it gonna be a long long time before it can happen due to conflicts and certain issues. One thing scares me is how would it be like? totalitarian?

There cannot be a single global government in at least these 100 years. Though United Nation is there as a global body, it is almost helpless as most of the powers are exercised by the powerful nations. So, I don't think even it can be possible in near future.

There are several other continental unions emerging apart from the European Union And ASEAN, such as USAN (Union of South American Nations), AU (African Union), UM (Union for the Mediterranean), Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, the theoretical North American Union and so on.

Personally I'm interested in the USAN. As long as it accomplishes the purpose, pushing crime back, energy integration etc, I'm fine with it. Individual nation's sovereignty should remain intact though, in order for it to succeed. But there's still a long way to go in order to achieve this.
