can you tell me some nice cool bars in rio? and night clubs? how much i would spend for a couple of cocktails and entrance?

Well it really depends on what you are into. You can try the following:

1. Botequin Informal in Ipanema
2.Botequin de Ihaly
3.Boteco Engarrafamento
4.Bar da Praia - Leblon
5. Bar Conversa Fiada
6.Botequin de Nanno


Regarding how much you will pay-- well it depends on if you are male or female. Some nightclubs allow females in free while the males pay--sorry guys but ladies get free entrance in lots of places in Rio

Now cocktails can cost any where between R$8-$25. It all depend on where you go.

i like Zigzag in Ipanema for starters, just grab a prancha and relax in the street and watch the lovelys walk by.

In Ipanema you also have Baronetti which is a good choice if you really wanna get crunk, since quite often they have a 100 Real entrance fee but that includes free drinks! Very safe and popular among young people. Next to Baronetti is an even better club called Soap.

I usually go to Barra da Tijuca or Lapa though. Barra da Tijuca is very popular among university people, I like a place there called Zero vinte um, 021. Great live music and very beautiful girls and a good crowd, on the same street you have a whole bunch of cool clubs. Safe place. In Lapa you have to many spots for me to go into. But for sure some of the best live music in Brazil I dare say. You can say Lapa to anyone and they know. Cheap, very local. People dancing everywhere, go with some friends. Not unsafe but less safe than the other places. I have seen pickpockets on a number of occasions. Best of luck and have a good time!

When you walk into Bar Brasil it is a total throw-back of what the city was like in the middle of the last century, when Rio was still the capital of a booming Brazil and Lapa. The establishment opened back in 1907, around the same time as the hulking wooden fridge that lurks in the corner and distributes the beer. The high ceilings, white-washed walls, white tablecloths and old-school bow-tied waiters, bring a sense of nostalgia to the bar!
