Fun Eating can be found in the 3 types of restaurants i Sao Luis that define eating out in Brazil: the beer garden Brewpub , the steak and barbecue house, and the pizzeria such as Terraço Itália

Be sure to check out - Maracangalha located in São Luís, Brazil
This vibrant restaurant is a notch above in food and service and is the spot for a blowout meal. Chef and owner Melchíades Dantas dishes out creative seafood and meat dishes that match the flambouant atmosphere in flair and presentation (the caldeirada maranhense – a seafood stew – is excellent). Staff is impeccably on point.
If there’s a flaw, it’s either the freezing red wine or the large, noisy space that can swell with kids present!

If you love seafood like I do , you have to visit - Barraca de comidas tipicas da Rosa.

They have all sorts of great seafood dishes, including: everything from torta de sururu (mussel pie), casquinha de caranguejo (stuffed crab), ensopado de camarao (shrimp stew), pescada frita (fried fish), camarao (shrimps), bolinho de caranguejo (crab cake) to the city's special rice dish, arroz de cuxa (rice with crushed shrimp, garlic and the stewed leaves of two native plants).

    DELICIOUS!!!

In Sao Luis. the local dishes here include Peixada (a fish preparation), Arroz de Cuxa and shrimp pie. Some of the good restaurants include Anti Gamente, Caterina Mina, Cabana do Sol, Por Acoso, O Armazem da Estrala for South American fare, Kitaro Lagoa for Japanese cuisine, La Pizzeria for some delicious pizzas, Dom Francisco and Toca Da Amizade.

    Maracangalha

This is a very colorful restaurant and is acyually a step above in food and service, not to mention the best spot for a blowout meal. Chef/owner Melchíades Dantas turns out creative seafood and meat dishes that match the artsy atmosphere in flair and presentation (the caldeirada maranhense – a seafood stew – is excellent). Staff is impeccably on point. If there’s a flaw, it’s either the freezing red wine or the large, noise-hugging space that can swell with kids.

With the exception of Bumba-meu-boi and Carnival, Sao Luis is quieter than most Brazilian cities of its size. The largest concentration of nightspots is just over the bridge, in Sao Francisco, here you will find many great places to eat and enjoy a cocktail!
