I heard poverty and crimes are known to be a well known issue in Brazil but it's pretty much the same as most other countries.

The most important social issue in Brazil is eradication of Poverty and unequal distribution of wealth. There is also a great difference of wealth and welfare between regions. While the South and Southeast enjoy better standards of living, the Northeast region lags behind. A large number of people are uneducated. High level of violence is also an important issue.

Sorry to hear about that, I guess seeing great cities like Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro being at the southeast, not much focus is being done at the northern side which is similar to some countries like China and my place.

The above problem as mentioned by Basu06 is all because of United States, i guess. Americans have capitalized the Brazilian resources very well, pushing the countries more into the depth of poverty.

Well Nuaeman, its not that. If we look from the another perspective, it has improved the Brazil economy as well. This industries created employment which is one of the most important factor for the growth of a nation. Besides, due to them Brazil has now world class structure as the 3rd world country which is hard find anywhere. Thus promoting and attracting visitor as well.

I agree seeing how China has improved its economy and such by allowing a huge flow of foreign investment there, but then how would it cause poverty if it able to provide more job opportunities there, I guess this would have to look on other prospectives.

Basic rights, taken for granted in developed countries, are scarce in Brazil. Education, health, safety (physical and juridical) are deficient in Brazil.
However, being a fully democratic country, Brazil is slowly improving several social indicators; the governments have been compelled by the citizens to attach more and more importance to social issues.

Sorry, but you cannot blame the Americans for the poverty that is in Brazil. Now, let us address this issue with clear details. In Brazil the distribution of wealth is not proportional. You will go down South for example and find people that live the lives of kings and queens so to speak and then you go up North and find people that live in clay houses and barely enough food to feed themselves for a day. This is not caused by America, but by bad planning and unreasonable treatments. In Brazil the rich gets special treatment the minute someone knows he is rich and the poor is treated like little to nothing. This is part of the education here- not something to blame America about.
