Do you think any of the cities in Brazil are overrated? Which ones? Why?
Do you think any of the cities in Brazil are overrated? Which ones? Why?
Dont you think that Sao Paolo are overrated? some of my south american told me that?
Nopes i don't think so because i don't see any reason. I think mainly Rio is overrated.
many , many cities in Brazil are over rated especially some in the northeast At least by my standards
New Yorker, can you specify what are those cities so that we will know. Maybe we can travel to Brazil one of this days.
Hi NewYorker, how can you say that many cities in Brazil are overrated? Can you specify some examples?
I think none of the Brazilian cities are over rated . . .
Come on Thiago Many many cities all over the world are over rated in their advertisements and in actuality as well. For travelers especially they are oftened fooled by hotel ratings as well as city ratings on the internet.
It seems the hotel ratings in some cities in Brazil are simply using a different rating system or outright lieing to people !!
I am one American that loves Brazil and will retire there but I also know like many other places on our planet Brazil has many flaws which are never or to say the least seldomed mentioned in ads and or articles about their cities. Many times cities are describe as Paradise Found . . . . . Give me a break please !!
There is no such place as perfect on this planet and one's personal standards can differ from one to another. Therefore it is of the utmost importance that people writing these ads and articles be open, and extremely honest in all areas about travel to Brazil.
To start with TAM offers some of the most expensive and uncomfortable flights not to mention LONG !! especially to the northeast. The seats are uncommonly uncomfortable and have very little room at all. The hotels, even the so called Luxury Hotels have much to be desired in many cities.
We once stayed and the Tropical Tambau in Joao Pessoa and I was totally disappointed to say the least and felt ripped off as well. I am sure in it's day it was a wonderful hotel but time has taken it's toll on this hotel as it has with many in Brazil because it seemd they do not keep their properties up as well as they could for reasons unknown to me ?
At first glance many cities are actually refreshing and exciting only to have those feelings wear off almost as quickly as they began once you go deepeer into many cities or stray from the so called vacation areas or tourist spots. They seem to pay much more attention in many cities to these areas then the many others.
Hopefully, as Brazil is still growing these things will change as Brazil changes.
Flights, Hotels, Roads, Safety just to mention a few.
Surely there are places in Brazil that are nice and have great potential to be even better but I see happening there what has happened in many areas of the United States and other countries to to commercialism and greed. Over building, over pricing , and overcrowding in many areas stripping Brazil of the exact and specific things that once made her much more attractive then many places.
Brazil needs to be careful to NOT kill the magic that has made her so attractive to visitors and investors in the not so distant past !!
Many cities such as Curitiba follow their own path and are doing a great job while others are following a path which will surely not have as good a result as this path is lined with greed and insincere intentions.
Maybe just maybe this global finacial explosion will open the eyes of those in Brazil following the same destructive paths and practices as other countries have in the past.
Brazil was always simplistically beautiful and refreshing to many people. Let us all strive to keep her that way as she prospers as well. It is not necessary to destroy her magic in the process.
Improve on what you have but do not chnage it please. Repair what you have neglected to do so in past years so everyone can enjoy Brazil equally. Not only visitors but Braziliains as well.
There is still much much work to be done starting with roads, airline service and lowering fares, infrastructure, rebuilding or maintaining places of interest such as historical places, zoos, cities, etc etc.
I can go on and on about all of these things because I am passionate about Brazil but I am also of an open and extremely honest mind and opinions which some , especially Brazilians, seemed to be offended by but Brazilians are also passionate about their Country and sometimes overly sensitive about things said about Brazil. This very sensitivity is cause to harm Brazil rather then help her. Dialogue whether good or bad is a good thing and people can learn from it if they keep an open mind and NOT let their sensitivity get the best of them.
Brazil can and will be great if they can overcome these things !!
Guys take it from me RIO DE JANEIRO is OVERRATED. I believe that São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Curitiba have a lot more infrastructure than Rio. I am a bit surprised that with all the shanty towns and crime that hover in Rio that it gets so much attention. There is more to a vacation than beaches![]()
It is simple: If you are living with or between rich people, so you will note a very overrated city; but if you are living with or between poor people, any city in Brazil is overrated.
Depends of where are you living.
Brazil has "Islands of Prosperity", so the rich people of São Paulo and Rio may give you some impression of overrated cities.
Yes, I think Brasilia is overrated. It became Brazil's National capital in 1960 and it is a planned city, which means it's basically a hub for bureaucracy! I don't like it!
