    Default Rent a Vehicle

Can we rent a vehicle in Brazil? I have an International Driver's Licence and my family wants to tour Brazil and explore the place. Cars or Vans would be great. Please inform us.

yes of course you can rent a car or a van. it is not too hard to find a place where you can get it. but the problem is the rate. it will be much higher. so if you travel on a taxi or bus it will be cheaper. that's why people don't hire a car a lot in brazil.
    thanks

We want to enjoy our time in Brazil and at the same time having our own privacy. Also to avoid any delays and we can pretty much go wherever we want to. Thank you for your time replying and giving us information about it. I really appreciate it. Have a good day ahead!

Definitely you can rent a car or a van! Try the big ones like Hertz or Avis, call to their office in your country to find out more about this.

Their are many but its best to hire someone who knows the shortcut and the best places to go to! Locals are the best!

    Hello,
Depending on how old your children are, renting scooters is another really great way to tour
Brazil. It's low cost as far as fuel goes and you'll actually see more of the real brazil rather than
being couped up in a car. Just a thought! Take care.

Me and my wife are really planning to do that but we have our children with us. That might be dangerous specially for a place that they are not familiar with. Thanks for that idea.

Here are some tips before you rent a car in Brazil.
    1. know how long your trip is going to be also try to Calculate the driving and sightseeing time.

    2. Make sure your current drivers license will be valid.
3.Try to contact a travel agent at least a month prior to the date you need the car rental
    4. Brush up on traffic signs and driving laws of Brazil, you can do this online.

    Hope this helps a little.

I know that in Rio, typically Bikes can be rented at Special Bike with several convenient locations in Rio (specialbikecopa@globo.com; Rua Barata Ribeiro 458 - Copacabana; Rua Visconde de Piraja 135 - Ipanema; Rua São João Batista 28 - Botafogo) Rentals are R$40 per day or R$14 per hour including a lock.

In Brazil car rentals are expensive, and the distances are huge. For instance, If you are traveling from Recife to Brasilia it's 2,121km (1,315 miles); Salvador to Rio is a 1,800km (1,116-mile) drive. Within Brazilian cities, renting a car is only for the bold and foolish: Drivers are aggressive, rules sporadically applied, and parking is like a competitive sport.
